Maya Portrait wip final

Here she is finished. I worked all night to get this done, so that it can be sent off to Germany today. Hopefully it will make it there before Christmas. The Dad wants to give this to his wife as a gift.

The paper is a nice off white, but unfortunately the scan doesn't show that very well at all. Anyway, I am glad it's finished. I learned much with this Portrait...primarily how difficult curls like this are to draw. Now I understand why there are no good tutorials out there for this subject. Straight hair is easy compared to this.

Now I move on to the next Portrait of little Isni with his Teddy Bear.

edited to add a slightly darker version....the scan just does not show up the way it looks in real life. On my laptops screen it looks so much paler than on my pc for example. I do have a nice range of values in this portrait, and it looks a whole lot better in real life. Just thought to mention that, since I hear always to go darker...

First Update

Here is what I have so far on the little girl's portrait. The curls are a definite struggle for me but, I am glad for the struggle because it forces me out of my comfort zone. I am still going to refine the hair and features a little more, but first I'll move on to the other areas of the portrait and then tie it all together toward the end. Any suggestions, comments, or critique is always welcome. ;o )
